Day 30 "Haley Selfie 2012" Colored Pencil

Day 30 of the 30 paintings in 30 days challenge. My last piece is a colored pencil painting of Haley from one of her selfies taken in 2012. I have enjoyed this challenge and am proud that I stuck to my theme of people portraits. It was not easy doing a portrait a day and also working on commissions and painting for my galleries.

This is a commission I completed and was picked up today. Schnauzers are fun dogs to draw and capturing the light reflections on their coat is a great exercise in black, gray and white.

Day #5 of the "30 paintings in 30 days"I used a reference photo that I tool during the Remembrance Day Parade in Gettysburg.  It was my first time seeing this parade and it was exciting to see that many re-actors in one place at one time. I do not think the red scarf was actually part of the uniform for this re-enactor but it was a cold day in Gettysburg.

Every new year, I love getting out old photos to look through them and remember fun times and they will be great subjects for the challenge.

The reference photo is one of my favorite photos of us that I have ever taken. I chose to paint this since we will be celebrating our 18th wedding anniversary on Sunday.
