"Male Eastern Bluebird" oil painting

5x7

oil on gessoed board

There are times when I post everything as soon as I paint it and there are times when life happens and some of my art is not posted.  I have had photos that were taken by my friend Karen Dattilio of bluebirds outside her window and so far painted 2 paintings from them and this is the 3rd. I need to find her secret to get these beautiful birds to my feeders.

#24 Hen and Chicks oil painting

3.5x2.5

oil on gessoed board

Day 24 is a miniature oil painting of a hen and chicks which is another  favorite  subject from my childhood days on our farm.

#21 Mourning dove oil painting

8x10

oil on gessoed board

Day #21 I chose to paint this mourning dove that I photographed outside my kitchen window. I like the challenge of capturing their coloring in different light.

"Nuthatch"

8x8

Oil on board

I was surprised to see this Nuthatch at my feeder. Grabbed the camera and had to paint him. Love it when I see different birds appear right outside my kitchen window.

Eastern Bluebird

4x6 Oil

I sold this oil painting at the Hanover Area Arts Guild. I love painting birds so I guess I will have to paint more.

Blue and Gold Macaw

7x10

Colored Pencil on Mi Teintes Touch

My reference photo for this drawing is a photo I took in the Florida everglades many years ago. This bird and many more were at a wildlife refuge where we also took an airboat ride through the everglades. I am working on subjects for an exotic pet art display.

Cardinal #3

Cardinal #3

I do believe I have Cardinal fever. I keep seeing more at my feeder and I keep snapping their photos and then I have to paint them. These three were painted before Christmas maybe I will continue the

series in 2013.
