Riders Ready oil painting

oil painting

This time last year my friend Sharon and I were coming back from delivering art when we decided to stop by the Swan Lake Riding stables where there was a horse show competition. We took lots of photos and this painting was done from one of those photos. I think the girls were waiting to compete. I enjoyed painting this because of the color variations of the horses.

I need to find her secret to get these beautiful birds to my feeders.

I have a logo commission and this is the first of 7 ink drawings that will be part of the logo. I like working in black and white as a change of pace paying attention to my values (lights and darks) so the subjects look realistic.

#1 painting "30 Paintings in 30 Days" in 2016

oil on board
Happy New Year! Again in 2016 I have accepted the "30 Paintings in 30 Days" challenge along with Leslie Saeta and 350 other artists around the world. My theme of my paintings the first year I participated was "Pets" and the second year was "People" so this year I decided the theme will be "Subjects I Love to Paint". My very first painting is a rabbit I photographed at a petting zoo years ago. I had rabbits as a kid and my children also had them so this is a subject I love to paint.
