My reference photo for this drawing is a photo I took in the Florida everglades many years ago. This bird and many more were at a wildlife refuge where we also took an airboat ride through the everglades. I am working on subjects for an exotic pet art display.

I met this guy on a farmette in Florida where the owners were celebrating their 100th year anniversary of operating a farmer's market. The two older Peterson brothers said their grandfather started the business and now they continue to sell fresh fruit, vegetables, eggs and milk along with souvenirs and other novelties. The animals were in pens arranged as a petty zoo atmosphere. The roosters seemed very happy with all their hens and this one liked looking at my camera. Just had to paint him.

I was going through my numerous dog photos from years ago and found a photo of a sheltie I met at a

dog event where I had my dog in a flyball demonstration. This little guys owner was so nice but I forgot her name and the dogs name and failed to write it on the back of the photo. I love painting these little miniatures.

This young golden retriever was at a dog lure coursing event to be socialized and have a try at coursing. It seemed to have a lot of fun that day so I had to do this colored pencil drawing.

This is my actually first painting of the new year. After painting commissions over the holidays I felt I had to paint a subject I chose and also needed something blue for the Hanover Art Guild "In the Blue" show. I used an old photo I took years ago of a bluebird that flew into my tree from the neighbors. I don't have bluebirds coming to my feeder but I wish I did.

It has been a while since I did a pet portrait on wood but this was a special request from a previous customer for a friend. It needs to dry then varnished-hope he likes it.

I do believe I have Cardinal fever. I keep seeing more at my feeder and I keep snapping their photos and then I have to paint them. These three were painted before Christmas maybe I will continue the

series in 2013.
