I really enjoyed Leslie Saeta's "30 Paintings in 30 Days" challenge . I am very glad I chose to do people portraits this year because It greatly helped me to improve on my speed and accuracy of creating the human portrait. Thank you all for following

Day 30 of the 30 paintings in 30 days challenge. My last piece is a colored pencil painting of Haley from one of her selfies taken in 2012. I have enjoyed this challenge and am proud that I stuck to my theme of people portraits. It was not easy doing a portrait a day and also working on commissions and painting for my galleries.

Day 26 of the "30 paintings in 30 days" is a watercolor of Danielle and Rocky on the day they met. I took the reference photo and always thought that Rocky had that look on his face because he knew he found his forever mommy.

Day 25 of the 30 paintings in 30 days is another self portrait with Rosie, my Borzoi the passed in 2011. The photos I used was taken during a therapy dog visit to a camp in York in 2008.

Day 24 of the 30 paintings in 30 days challenge is aportrait of my granddaughter Haley when she was younger holding a kitten. The kittens colors make it look like I did not finish it so I might have to put some more yellow stripes on it.

Day 19 of the 30 paintings in 30 days and this has been a real challenge painting all people but I am having so much fun. This painting is of me and my daughter, Amy from a photo taken of us on Mother's Day 2014.

This is a commission I completed and was picked up today. Schnauzers are fun dogs to draw and capturing the light reflections on their coat is a great exercise in black, gray and white.

Day #14 of the Leslie Saeta's "30 paintings in 30 days challenge" I chose to paint from my photo taken in 2008 of my grandson and his new boxer puppy Lucy. I am enjoying this challenge which gives me a reason to paint from some of my most favorite photos.

Day #13 of the "30 Paintings in 30 Days". I chose to do a pastel of Amy when she was competing in in western style riding at a horse show at a 4H event. I changed the background from the riding rink and bleachers to more relaxed field.

Day10 of the "30 Paintings in 30 Days" is a 6x4 section of a planned 8x10 painting. Since I chose one of my reference photos that I took at the Victorian Carriage Farm that has a lot of details and a horse in it, I did not get it finished today. This is a General Grant impersonator.

Day #9 of the "30 Paintings in 30 Days" I used a reference photo I took during the Rememberance Day Parade in Gettysburg of a man walking on the sidewalk during the parade. He made me wonder was he vagabond or a re-enactor,

Day #8 in the "20 Paintings in 30 Days" challenge. I chose to use a photo from a free artist reference photos site and I chose colored pencil  as the medium. I know the challenge is for paintings but when I use the mineral spirits with the colored pencil it has a painterly effect.

Day #7 of the "30 Paintings in 30 Days" challenge is a pastel from my photo of Dylan and Sheeka the cockatiel back in 2009. Sheeka was a very gentle bird and loved to sit on the socialize with people.

Day #6 of the "30 Paintings in 30 Days" challenge. Since we had snow today, I painted one of my favorite snow photos that my daughter, Amy gave me years ago. This is David, my grandson and Haley my granddaughter and their dog Shep. He always loved the snow!

Day #5 of the "30 paintings in 30 days"I used a reference photo that I tool during the Remembrance Day Parade in Gettysburg.  It was my first time seeing this parade and it was exciting to see that many re-actors in one place at one time. I do not think the red scarf was actually part of the uniform for this re-enactor but it was a cold day in Gettysburg.

Day #4 of the "30 Paintings in 30 Days" is a quick watercolor painting of a little girl with my whippet "Bailey" during a therapy visit to a summer camp. The connection between a child and a therapy dog is a remarkable a experience.

Day#3 of the "30 paintings in 30 Days" I chose to do a colored pencil drawing of my grandson from a photo I took in 1994. He loved to go to Codorus Park to see the geese. Every new year, I love getting out old photos to look through them and remember fun times and they will be great subjects for the challenge.

Day #2 of Leslie Saeta's "30 Paintings in 30 Days" challenge and I chose to paint Russ and I  in 1995 sitting on a bench in the Boston Commons, Massachusetts during our trip to Cape Cod. The reference photo is one of my favorite photos of us that I have ever taken. I chose to paint this since we will be celebrating our 18th wedding anniversary on Sunday.

Leslie Saeta's "Thirty Paintings in 30 Days" challenge. Artist all over the United States are joining in on this challenge. My theme this year is "People" and on Day #1 I chose to a self portrait of myself using my photo from 1987. I hope you continue to follow my progress on this challenge and comment on my art.
