Auodad Sheep demo painting

13x15
Acrylic and colored pencil on illustration board
This is my most recent painting of a Auodad Sheep. He is a resident of the Catoctin Zoo where I photographed him years ago but just recently decided to paint this for a demo in my colored pencil class. I showed my students how colored pencil can be used with many other mediums.
I think I found  another favorite medium combination.

Relics by Charlotte Yealey

15x20
Acrylic and Colored Pencil
I am not sure if this painting actually shows the idea I had in my mind when I started it but it does raise a few questions for the viewer. Is the dog patiently waiting to follow someone on a bike ride or are these three relics  (the old dog and two old style bicyles) forgotten in this new age?

"Beagle Sit" Acrylic Painting by Charlotte Yealey

8x10
Acrylic on gesso board

While at a dog agility trial, I observed and photographed this beagle patiently waiting for something from his owner. Was it verbal instructions, was it a "good boy" reward or was it a treat?

"Chincoteague Pony" Acrylic Painting by Charlotte Yealey

12x16
Acrylic
Years ago while vacationing in Ocean City Maryland we drove to Assateague Island looking for the feral ponies. We stopped along the road to watch a pony graze along the road side but did not realize from behind our car came several ponies walking along side the road. It was a stallion with his mares and they passed right next to our car. What a great photo opportunity. This painting is of one of the mares.
