I have been working on several commisson requets of the same dog. This is Tula. She was adopted from an Ibizan Hound rescue in Spain where her mother delivered her and her siblings. Her owner Sue is a very nice Lady from the UK  rescued her and is giving her a wonderful life. Sue asked me to do several colored pencil drawings and these are the first two.

Work in Progress - Colored Pencil

8.5x11
colored pencil
This is a work in progress. It has been awhile since I worked on black so I decided to draw Halen, my Ibizan hound sleeping on the rug at the glass door. Catching the right light with the colored pencils is fun but the shaded area is a little tricky. I want to show that the rest of the body is there but not too much to take away the dramatic shadows. I am working on this in between commissions and competition pieces.

Accepted in National Canine Show

2012 Has really been good so far!

I heard today that my 2 paintings "Waiting Whippet" an oil painting and "Ibizan Hound Pup" a watercolor painting both have been accepted into "The Art Show at the Dog Show" a National canine art show in Wichita, Kansas. I am thrilled to get 2 paintings in this show again this year. The judging will not be until March 6.
